Ronseal Midnight Blue Chalky Furniture Paint - 750ml

Uses

The Chalky Furniture Paint by Ronseal is the go-to choice for tradespeople and D.I.Yers tasked with rejuvenating old furniture. This thick pigmented colour offers a vibrant colour and a durable, long-lasting finish that is resistant to scruffs, scratches and general bumps. It doesn't just work on old furniture as you can use this paint to apply onto surfaces such as;

Preparation

Bare wood should have 120 grit sandpaper lightly sanded over it, following the direction of the wood grain. This creates a lovely base layer for the paint to adhere onto, and any leftover dust after sanding should be wiped away using white spirit and a cloth.

If the surface has been painted previously, inspect the paintwork to see its condition. If it's in good quality, use 240 grit sandpaper and lightly sand the surface, wiping away any dust after with white spirit and a cloth.

If the paintwork is poor, you must sand it all back to the bare wood. Use 120 grit sandpaper or an electric sander to achieve this, wiping away any dust afterwards using white spirit and a cloth.

Application

1. Thoroughly stir the paint when first opening it, and this is to ensure all the pigments are mixed.
2. Use a synthetic brush and apply the first coat by brushing onto the surface following the woodgrain. 
3. Wait four hours for the coat to dry, then apply the second coat.
4. The second coat will be touch-dry in just 30 minutes.

Aftercare

After you've completed the application, you can maintain the quality of the wood by just cleaning it regularly. If you notice any damage to the surface, you can gently sand down the damaged area and recoat it to fix it.
